In August 2024, we engaged with several companies to secure a solar solution before the impending expiration of 1-1 net metering in our area. Ultimately, we chose Midwest Solar (MWS) based on their proposal. They set up financing terms and provided a link for us to apply. However, we were not presented with any options for the loan structure, as this had been dictated by the installer. As we enthusiastically approached our installation date, the project manager unexpectedly contacted us in early November. We were instructed to reapply for financing because they had “included a dealer fee that we are now avoiding.” It’s important to note that we had already signed agreements with both the lender and MWS at this stage. I was then presented with two unrealistic choices: either pay 30% more for the project or opt for a financing option that significantly increased the interest rates, potentially adding up to $40,000 to the overall cost of the 25-year loan. This also meant our monthly payments would almost double from what we had initially agreed upon. This was completely unacceptable. We attempted to negotiate with Midwest Solar to find a viable resolution. I even offered to cover half of the 30% fee, but their only response was to reduce the project cost by a mere $700. This left us without any real solution and resulted in the loss of our opportunity to have the system installed before the 1-1 net metering expiration. Overall, my experience with Midwest Solar was a complete nightmare.

Midwest Solar Solutions was a wonderful choice for our solar! All parts of the installation went very smoothly, and when the inspectors came to check everything they asked who did our work- we said MW Solar Solutions and they said then they knew things would have been done right. All the workers were friendly and informative. After everything was done, our solar has been working great for several months now. We had batteries installed as well. When our A/C is not on, we’re practically not using any grid power, and even when the A/C is running our grid dependence is significantly less. They helped guide us through the rebates and tax incentives to make everything more affordable too. Selling power back into the grid has been a neat benefit as well. This was a big jump for us but I am very glad we did it and we had this company do it for us.

They responded to lots of questions that helped us narrow down the scope of our project. The customer service was and has remained excellent. The installation crew was professional and efficient.

I am really happy that after talking to about a dozen different solar companies, we chose to work with Midwest Solar. They were knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy, straightforward and down to earth through the whole process. We got exactly the kind of build that we wanted (A pergola in our backyard, something none of the other companies we talked to could do), upgraded our electrical box and panel, and are now producing enough energy to sustain our household needs (with room to grow if needed!). The install itself was done by professional, friendly people who took care to be respectful of our home and were just overall a pleasure to be around.
